Set Up Automated Google Review Requests After WiFi Login

How to configure VoqadoWiFi to automatically ask satisfied guests for a Google review after a qualifying session, including timing logic, incentive configuration, and tracking review velocity.

Why WiFi-Triggered Review Requests Work

Asking for a Google review at exactly the right moment — after a guest has spent time in your venue and is still connected to your WiFi — produces dramatically higher response rates than post-visit email requests. The guest is physically present, their experience is fresh, and the ask feels contextual rather than intrusive. Venues using this feature on VoqadoWiFi see an average of 4.2x more reviews per month compared to passive review collection.

Step 1: Get Your Google Review Link

Open your Google Business Profile (business.google.com). Go to Home → Get more reviews. Google provides a direct review link in the format 'https://g.page/r/[YOUR-PLACE-ID]/review'. Copy this link. If you can't find it, search for your business on Google Maps, click Leave a review, and copy the URL from your browser — it's the same link. Shorten it using bit.ly or your own domain redirect if you want clean analytics (optional). You'll paste this into VoqadoWiFi in Step 3.

Step 2: Configure the Post-Connection Welcome Screen

In the VoqadoWiFi Portal Builder, go to Post-Login Experience. Enable the Welcome Screen toggle. This is a full-screen overlay that appears for 5 seconds after a guest successfully logs in before they're redirected to the internet. You have space for: a headline (e.g. "You're connected!"), a short message (e.g. "Thanks for joining us today — enjoy your visit"), and an optional CTA button. This welcome screen is the first touchpoint for your review ask setup.

Step 3: Add the Review CTA with Session Threshold

Still in Post-Login Experience, scroll to Conditional CTAs. Click + Add CTA Rule. Set the condition: Show only if: Session Duration ≥ 20 minutes (configurable — 20 minutes is the recommended minimum, as it ensures the guest has had a genuine experience). Set the CTA: Button text: "Leave us a Google review", Button URL: your Google review link from Step 1, Button style: Primary (high-visibility). This CTA only appears on the post-connection screen for returning or long-session guests — not on first-second connections.

Step 4: Use the Offer System to Incentivise

Navigate to Portal Builder → Offers & Rewards. Click + New Offer. Set trigger: After successful login + session ≥ 20 minutes. Offer type: Discount code or Free item. Example: "Leave us a Google review and show a staff member this screen to get a free coffee." Generate a single-use promo code or use a simple honesty-based free item offer (the latter converts better for casual venues). Set the offer expiry to Same day to create urgency. The offer displays below the Google review CTA on the welcome screen, pairing the ask with an immediate reward.

Step 5: Track Review Velocity in Analytics

In the VoqadoWiFi dashboard, go to Analytics → Review Funnel. You'll see: CTA Impressions (how many guests saw the review button), CTA Clicks (how many tapped it), and Estimated Review Rate (clicks as a percentage of impressions). Cross-reference this with your Google Business Profile's review count over the same period — check GBP monthly to see if the cadence matches expectations. A healthy conversion rate from WiFi-triggered review request to actual review is 6-12%. If you're below 6%, try adjusting the session threshold down to 15 minutes or testing a different CTA text.

Step 6: A/B Test the CTA Button Text

VoqadoWiFi's Portal Builder supports simple A/B testing on CTA button text. Go to Portal Builder → Conditional CTAs → [Your CTA] → Edit → Enable A/B Test. Variant A: "Leave us a Google review" (control). Variant B: "Rate your visit on Google" or "Tell Google what you think." Run the test for at least 200 impressions before declaring a winner. In platform data, action-oriented variants ("Rate your experience") outperform passive variants ("Leave a review") by an average of 14% on click-through rate. The winning variant is automatically applied after you confirm the result.
