Guest WiFi for coworking spaces: the visitors, not the members
A coworking space has two kinds of people on its WiFi. Members, who need fast, secure, automatic access every day. And everyone else: the client a member brought in, the day pass guest deciding whether to join, the hundred people at Thursday's talk. VoqadoWiFi is for the second group.
First, what this is not
VoqadoWiFi does not authenticate members. It has no integration with coworking membership platforms, no per member credentials, and no enterprise style network login. If you are looking for a way to give members automatic, secure access tied to their membership, this is the wrong product, and you should keep or choose a tool built for network authentication.
What it does is the guest side: a branded login on a guest network, a consent record for each person, a guest list you can export, and follow up for the people who said yes.
Who signs in, and why it matters
| Who | When they connect | Why you want to know them |
|---|---|---|
| Day pass and trial guests | On arrival, before they start work | They are deciding whether to become members |
| Event attendees | During a talk, workshop or launch | Most have never been inside the space before |
| Members’ visitors | In a meeting room or at a hot desk | Clients and collaborators who may need a desk one day |
| Café or lobby visitors | If part of the space is open to the public | Neighbours who walk past every day |
Every one of these people is a potential member, and today most of them leave no trace. A sign in sheet at reception catches some; a WiFi login catches the ones who never stop at the desk.
Setting it up so members are not affected
Two networks, two jobs
Members stay on the network they use today. Create a second SSID for guests, with client isolation on so a visitor’s laptop cannot see a member’s printer, and point only that SSID at the VoqadoWiFi login through your Omada or UniFi controller.
Events on their own login
If you want event attendees in a separate list, give events their own guest network and set it up as a separate location. Each location has its own login wording, so the event network can welcome people to the talk rather than to the space.
Ask for less than you think
Email and first name. Company is tempting, but every extra field costs sign ins, and the email domain usually tells you the company anyway. The marketing box stays separate and unticked: agreeing to the WiFi terms is not agreeing to hear about memberships.
Follow up that suits a coworking space
- After a day pass. A short note the next day to guests who opted in: how to book another day, what a membership includes, who to ask. One email, not a sequence.
- After an event. The slides or the recording, the next event, and an open invitation to work from the space for a day. Event guests are the warmest list you will have.
- The review request. 3 hours after connecting by default, and never between 21:00 and 09:00 venue time, every guest who opted in gets the same public review link, whatever they thought, with a private note offered alongside. More on timing.
Promotional email goes only to guests who ticked the box, and the guest list exports as CSV at any time. Email campaigns and automations are on the Growth plan; campaign sending is being switched on account by account while our sending domain is verified.
When to choose something else
- You need member authentication or integration with your membership platform. VoqadoWiFi does neither.
- Your access points are not Omada or UniFi.
- You want to sell WiFi access by the hour or the day. VoqadoWiFi does not sell access.
