Choose with confidence / Note 40
Decide whether a free WiFi pilot fits
A decision worksheet for using a free plan to answer a narrow, useful question.

Start with the decision.
A free pilot can reduce the commitment needed to test an idea, but it still uses staff time and an existing network. Match the pilot to the plan’s current limits and be clear about what a successful test will and will not prove.
Three moves to make.
Choose a small question
Focus on a guest welcome, a setup handoff or basic reporting. Avoid designing a test around a feature that is outside the selected plan.
Check the full requirement
Confirm hardware, internet service, permissions and operator availability. A zero software price does not supply the venue’s network or technical ownership.
Define the next decision
Write what would justify continuing, upgrading or stopping. Review observed usage against the plan before expanding the test.
What it could look like.
A venue can use a limited pilot to check whether staff understand the welcome and guests can complete the intended journey. That pilot does not by itself demonstrate the revenue return of a larger campaign program.
Make the idea concrete.
Use these five prompts with your team. The downloadable text worksheet includes the prompts, practical steps and review check. Save it, edit it or print it.

- Continue or stop ruleRecord your decision and the evidence behind it.
The final check.
Compare the completed pilot with the original question. If the test changed substantially, record the new scope before making a purchasing conclusion.
Do not promise unlimited guest use merely because the selected plan has no monthly software fee.
