First, the useful part

Start with the decision.

Frequency is a promise about attention. More sends create more opportunities to be useful and more opportunities to be unwelcome. Start with a rhythm the venue can support with accurate, relevant content, then review the evidence rather than copying another business’s schedule.

Put it into practice

Three moves to make.

  1. Map the messages

List planned campaigns and any automated messages that may reach the same person. Look for overlaps before deciding that an additional send is harmless.

  2. Choose review signals

Track available delivery, unsubscribe, complaint and response measures using consistent definitions. Note audience size so a few responses do not look like a stable trend.

  3. Make a small adjustment

Change one part of the schedule and set a review date. Keep the purpose of each message clear and preserve the person’s current contact preferences.

An illustrative example

What it could look like.

A venue may discover that an event invitation and a general newsletter arrive on the same day. Combining useful information or moving one send can be a better first change than increasing overall frequency.

Before the next move

The final check.

Read the evidence with the content and audience in mind. A different offer can change responses even when the send frequency is unchanged.

The detail that matters

Do not interpret silence as a request for more frequent messages.

Is there a universal best email frequency?

No schedule fits every venue and audience. Start with useful content you can maintain and adjust using clearly defined observations.
